48 days. We are 48 days into our quarantine.
We have found ourselves in such an unusual circumstance and watching the coronavirus pandemic unfold has been absolutely insane. Businesses are closed. We can’t hug our loved ones. We have to wear face masks and gloves out in public. We have to wipe down anything we bring into our homes. And seeing the city so quiet and empty is heartbreaking.
Our 48 days of quarantine are definitely going better than expected and am so thankful Chris and I both have a job that gives us the flexibility to work from home. I’m thankful we have jobs. I’m thankful we have a roof over our heads. I’m thankful we aren’t facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. But just like everyone else, I’m looking forward to things returning back to “normal,” whenever that is.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to post-quarantine.
Yup, you read that right. I can’t wait to be able to run errands in person instead of doing all of my shopping online. There’s nothing better than being able to grab a coffee and wander aimlessly around Target, pop into my favorite locally-owned shops, and not have to worry about the lack of options at the grocery store.
In my opinion, not celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, and all of the other big-life moments with friends and family has been one of the worst parts of quarantine. Both Chris and I have April birthdays, and so don’t a large number of our friends and family members. I can’t wait to be able to celebrate with everyone once this is all over.
One of my goals for 2020 was to travel to six new places and if we’re being honest here – that is 100% not happening this year, thanks to our little friend coronavirus. We still have two local trips planned – one to Rye, NH for the 4th of July, and one to Martha’s Vineyard (see last year’s trip here!) in August. We rented houses for both and hope we are still able to go, but we’ll see.
As for the other trips we wanted to take this year, we’re going to be pushing them back to 2021 so we can fully enjoy our time wherever we end up going. I’m hoping to get down to the Bahamas in January, London in the fall, and then we’ll sprinkle a few other short trips in between those big ones.
Going Out to Eat
Chris and I have Thursday’s designated as date night and we love going out for a delicious meal at our favorite restaurants, and even trying new ones. I can’t wait until we’re able to do this again! And with the warm weather fast approaching, I can’t wait to be able to sit outside at some of our favorite patios with a glass of wine and cheeseboard. Don’t even get me started about brunch!
Hugging Our Friends & Family
This is a given, isn’t it?! I can’t wait to be able to hug our friends and family and spend hours catching up on everything going on and making plans for all of the things we’re going to do together.
What are you looking forward to after quarantine?
