Even though the weather might not be reflecting it, it is officially spring and I’m ready to say goodbye (for now) to every single sweater in my closet. Don’t get me wrong, I love a cozy sweater but I am dying for a closet refresh, and now is the perfect time. Before I start shopping for a specific season, I always go through my closet to see what items I don’t wear anymore, what items need to be replaced, and where the holes are.
What I’m Buying for Spring
I personally am a big basics gal, so this spring I’m all set on denim, solid color tees, chunky sweaters (for those cooler days!), and white sneakers so this year, blouses, patterned dresses, sandals, and accessories will make up a bulk of my spring purchases. Plus, any other fun pieces I find along the way!
As someone who is drawn to neutrals, I really started to step outside my box last year and incorporated more patterns into my wardrobe. This top from H&M was one of those pieces. I never thought I’d incorporate polka dots into my wardrobe, but here we are! (I also picked up this polka dot dress last year and love it so much)
Shoes for Spring
My main focus this spring is replacing a few pairs of sandals that I’ve had for a few seasons now and have seen better days, there are one pair of sneakers on my list! I got my first pair of New Balance 327’s at the end of last summer and love them so much. They barely stay in stock and the pair I linked below only have a few sizes available, but they’re the one pair of my spring wishlist (if they come back in stock in my size!).
For sandals, you’ll definitely see a trend with the pairs I’m eyeing! From these gorgeous raffia braided platform sandals to these ruched sandals, the name of the game is neutral this season but with a fun twist of texture.
The number one clothing item that is lacking from my wardrobe is blouses. Since I work from home, a majority of my closet is cotton tees and long sleeves, making it difficult to put together a “cute” outfit when I actually do leave my house. This spring, I’m gravitating towards feminine tops and patterns, ruffle sleeve details, and tie sleeve shoulders.
I hate to say that I used to be anti-dress, but I’ve turned a corner and now it seems like all I wear once the temperature is about 70 degrees. There are so many beautiful dresses out this season and I need them all. For the most part, I’m eyeing a lot of floral print, but this gingham dress from Reformation is gorgeous and is at the top of my list this spring.
Another area of my wardrobe that needs a major refresh: my handbags. I’ve always been picky about handbags so I truly don’t own very many (as I’m sure you’ve noticed!), but it’s something I’m working on. This spring, I’ll definitely be keeping it neutral but love the idea of a fun texture!
