Did the weekend fly by or is it just me?

The last few months have been so hectic and I started to realize how much of a toll it has taken on me, my body, my work, and my relationships. Because of this, I’ve really been focusing on slowing down and taking it all in, which can sometimes be difficult for me. But this past weekend, I did a really great job slowing down and I am publicly giving myself a pat on the back because I deserve it.

Now, with my quiet weekend, I revisited the goals I set for myself at the beginning of 2019 and scribbled down some ideas for Hello, Her. What I realized was that I’ve started to just fall into the motion of taking photos, writing a blog post, and sharing said blog post on social media. It’s a never-ending cycle (thankfully it’s one that I enjoy!). The problem? I feel like I’m constantly writing the same shit. I haven’t been focusing on the relationships that come from blogging or the engaging conversations that lead to meeting new people on the other side of the world. And moving forward, this is something I want to focus on.

And what better time than now?

Saturday

I started my weekend off like I start all weekends, grabbing a breakfast burrito and coffee at a small café around the corner from my apartment before getting ready for the day! Chris and I had his grandmas 96th birthday dinner Saturday night so I ran over to Niche (my favorite plant shop in the city!) in Cambridge to grab a plant to give her and stopped at Trader Joe’s on the way home to get the fixings for a cheese board to bring with us!

Sunday

Typically Sunday’s are very lax, but since we had to go up to see Chris’ family on Saturday, I was tight on time so we ended up jam-packing a bunch of stuff into our day Sunday!

After grabbing breakfast at the Friendly Toast (the breakfast egg rolls and chocolate chip pancakes are so good!), Chris and I headed into the city to look at an apartment. Both of our leases are up in September and we’ve made the decision to cohabitate after that so here we are – on the great apartment hunt. Even with September far away, we decided to start the hunt a few weeks ago to try to tackle it sooner rather than later and it’s been interesting, to say the least. We did see a great place in the South End a few weeks ago but unfortunately missed out on it. The place we saw on Sunday was SMALL and for the cost ($2,350/month), it just wouldn’t work. Ahhh, city living.

If you’re wondering how small this place is, here’s the “kitchen”…

What I’m Reading

Magazines – I’ve been reading magazines like crazyyyy lately, mostly because I’ve been doing a decent amount of traveling and I love picking up new magazines at the airport! Chris’ mom also got me a subscription to Real Simple for Christmas, which is one of my favorite magazines.

Also reading: InStyle, Boston Magazine, Marie Claire, and Glamour.

Lilac Girls – One of my goals in 2019 was to read at least one book a month and this month, I’m reading Lilac Girls! I’m actually a little behind (only about 100 pages in) but so far, it’s so good! Starting in September 1939, the book covers the stories of three women during World War II – Caroline, a New York Socialite, Kasia, a Polish teenager, and Herta, a young German doctor. Once Kasia is sent to Ravensbrück, a women’s concentration camp, the stories of the women are sent on a collision course as Herta and Caroline strive to bring justice to those forgotten.

What I’m Shopping

Auden Bras & Underwear – Target recently came out with a new intimates line, Auden, and everything in the collection is under $22! I had a few items to return over the weekend so I picked up four bras (each under $15!) and a few pairs of underwear to test out. I’m thinking about doing a full review of the items I try over the next few weeks, so if there’s an Auden item you are curious about, let me know!

Woven Mules – I am obsessed with the look of mules but have never owned a pair for whatever reason, so when I saw these cuties from Target ($25!) I figured why not and bought them! I wore them for the first time on Saturday and am completely smitten. I think I have a new go-to style shoe for spring!

Floral TopHow cute is this floral number? The ties on the sleeves are such a cute detail and it’ll be perfect to wear throughout spring and summer with shorts, white jeans, or even a dress pant for a meeting!

What were the highs of your weekend?!

ahh that cheese board looks so yummy!!
i feel you on the blog post rhythm though- except mine is more so for YouTube. It’s easy to get stuck into a routine of film-edit-post-share, and feel unmotivated. So it’s awesome that you revisited your goals!! I definitely need to do that. Sounds like you had a great weekend though 🙂

I know what you mean about creating blog posts for the sake of having a blog post. I do want to be able to have more thoughtful and creative posts this year, but I need to break the current cycle. Good luck with your apartment hunt, I like that you are starting early so you can be picky!
