Hanging art in your home can have such a big impact on a room, yet it’s one of the tasks so many homeowners and renters put off. Why? It can be overwhelming! Not only do you have to decide on the size of the art and color theme, but you also have to decide on an overall style. From abstract and landscape to portraits and everything in between, there are so many styles to pick from!
I think this is one of the reasons that it took me so long to hang art in my office. I knew I wanted something a little more traditional but didn’t know exactly what I wanted in the space.
If you’re in the same boat as I was, I’m sharing my favorite places to shop for art, some tips, and tricks for hanging it, and giving you a peek inside my office!
Tips and Tricks for Hanging Art
Hanging art doesn’t have to be complicated! All you need are a few tools and your art will be hung in no time.
Decide Where You Want Your Art To Go
When it comes to buying art for our home, I always decide where I want it to go before placing any orders. This is something I always recommend to friends and family – if you don’t know where a specific piece is going to live in your home, it’s most likely going to collect dust and never be hung!
Grab a Picture Hanging Kit
Having a picture hanging kit is the best thing I’ve ever done. These kits have everything you need to hang your art, no matter what size it is. I love how easy these kits make it to hang art quickly!
Use Painters Tape If You’re Unsure
Before hanging any art, I always utilize painter’s tape (or paper!) to outline the art that I’ll be hanging to get a better idea of the sizing in a space, especially when I’m hanging more than one piece. Doing this will give you a better visual and the tape is easy to move around if the setup isn’t exactly what you want.
Fine Art Prints from Minted
Minted has been my go-to for invitations, note cards, and holiday cards for years and after what feels like forever of scrolling through their wall art, I’m excited to finally have a few pieces of my own! I love that they work with independent artists that love what they do, which allows people like you and me to get access to unique art for our homes at a reasonable price.
Minted also has new designs from independent artists launching all the time, so you’re never looking at the same pieces over and over again! The filters on the website also make it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Once you’ve found the piece(s) you want for your home, you also have the option to frame the art through Minted (so many great frame options!) and select the type of border and matting you want the print to have. This allows you to really ensure the piece you purchase matches your home and personality!
The Art in My Office Space
For my office, I opted for two fine art prints to go between my built-in shelving and my desk. Since the space is on the smaller side and I have a floor lamp and plant in this area, I opened for two 11-inch by 14-inch prints with one being vertical and the other being horizontal. I love the simplicity of this sketch-style print with the colors of this seascape.
We’ve been living in our apartment for a little over a year now and even though I spend so much time in my office each day, there’s been so many little projects in it that I’ve been neglecting. Art being one of them! Now that I have these two prints up, the space feels so much cozier. I’m even thinking about adding on to the two prints and making a full gallery wall around my computer screen – I think this print from Minted would be a great first addition. What do you think? I love how bold it is!
Thank you to Minted for gifting the art for my office space! As always, all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make Hello, Her possible!
