The Lilac Coat I’m Loving for Winter

With a desperate need of a little color, I decided to add a lilac top coat into the mix.

Hi friends! I feel like it’s been a hot second since I published a blog post that was not only style-focused but included a fun pop of color because let’s face it: all I wear are neutrals. Can you blame me? They’re just so easy. But who doesn’t love a good pop of color, especially during the dreary winter months?!

If we’re being honest (which we are – we are very honest around these parts.) I originally purchased this coat in tan. Yes – you heard that right. I was boring. I was  predictable. But I do not own a tan coat. When I originally stopped into Abercrombie a few weeks ago to check the coat out for myself, I was very torn between the tan and the lilac. One part of me was like “You don’t own a tan coat. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Buy the damn coat.” and the other part of me was like “The purple might not be as practical as the tan, but it’s fun. It’s outside of your comfort zone.” I left the store that day with the tan and last week I came home with the lilac.

It was meant to be.

Plus, the lilac is going to be so fun to style come spring.

And if we’re on the topic of being honest, let’s talk about how Abercrombie has totally stepped up their game over the last two (ish??) years. The quality is there, the staff is super helpful, and they have a fun mix of classic pieces (like this crisp white button down) and trendy pieces (like this sherpa-lined denim jacket). When I originally got this coat, I figured it would be good when I’m running errands on the weekends or if I’m spending a minimal amount of time outside, but I ended up commuting to work in this coat one day and guess what? IT’S WARM AS HECK! I was definitely surprised by that one. The only thing to keep in mind is that the top button starts far (ish) down, so make sure to wear a scarf on those chillier days!

As I’m just beginning to dip my toes into the pool in which is my comfort zone, I kept my outfit very neutral. My favorite cashmere sweater in bone (only $100!), a neutral flat, a fun watch, and a trendy pair of denim complete with a button fly to finish off the look!

What color palette does your winter wardrobe tend to be?
