Trying out new products is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I always have to be extra careful with my finicky skin.
I have been using the same skin care products for years and even though they’re great, I was getting sick of them and really wanted to try something new. Thankfully, some of my current products were running low, so it made for the perfect opportunity to switch things up.
Even though I love trying new products, I do have very acne prone skin so I have to be careful with the products I try. Being more aware of the ingredients in the products has helped me find products that work well for my skin. I am in no way trying to use products that are strictly all organic ingredients (clean beauty) but I am trying to use products that are cleaner than the ones I have historically used. If you’re trying to watch the ingredients in the products you use, I highly recommend the Think Dirty app – it’s so easy to use and extremely helpful.
Tip: If you’re looking to switch out some of your products and don’t know where to start, always ask friends/family members what products they love and utilize the brains of the team at Sephora/Ulta! They’re so helpful.
Between #TBSCon and my current products getting low, I have a bunch of new-to-me skincare and haircare products that I’ve been trying (& loving!). To keep it short and sweet, here are the skincare products I’ve tried and loved!
My go-to cleanser is only carried at Ulta, which is a super pain, especially when there’s not one nearby. When I finally ran out, I knew I didn’t have a chance to stop by Ulta in the near future so I made a quick stop at Sephora during lunch and my coworker suggested I try this one. Worst comes to worse, I hate it and it holds me over long enough to get to Ulta for my regular cleanser. I am now on week two (or three?) of using it and I’m obsessed. It smells delicious, is gentle on my skin, and it works well with the other products I’ve started to use.
When I was away for 4th of July, I forgot to pack my moisturizer and was using Chris’ during the trip and even though it’s formulated for men, I loved it. Once we got back I started using Differin and I noticed my current moisturizer just wasn’t cutting it. I ended up picking up this facial cream since I’ve had such great results with their oil cleanser. After about two weeks of using it regularly (day and night), my skin hasn’t had any sort of reaction to it and I’m no longer getting those dry spots!
This mask (along with the sheer renewal cream) was gifted to me at #TBSCon and I was so excited to get home and try it out. And let me tell you – this clarifying detox mask is amazing. I tend to use it 1-2 times per week – 1-time full face, 1 time used with my favorite drying mask when I have breakouts. It leaves my skin feeling soft, plump, and balanced.
This renewal cream is the cat’s pajamas. Just like the mask, this cream leaves my skin feeling extra soft. Dare I say, as soft as a babies bottom? I’ve only been using this in the mornings, pre-makeup application to keep my makeup looking fresh all day long.
The purchase of this oil wasn’t planned, but I knew how bad makeup remover wipes are for your skin and was interested in learning about other options. Sooo when I stopped into Kiehl’s one afternoon, I talked to her about my skin concerns and current routine, and she walked me through various products to introduce into my routine. One of the products I decided to try was the cleansing oil, which I am now using in place of my makeup remover wipes and with my regular cleanser.
2-3 pumps of the oil will remove all makeup from your face (including mascara!) followed by your regular skincare routine. I’ve actually noticed a huge difference in my skin since I began double cleansing
I had never tried any of the L’Occitane products (*ever*) before receiving this one at The Blog Societies Conference last month and let me tell you – this stuff is the real deal. On days that it’s hot and muggy out and the last thing I want to do is put makeup on, I slather this thirst quenching gel all over my face. Not only does it hydrate and moisturize my skin, but it leaves me looking fresh-faced. With the increase in temp and humidity the last few days, I’ve actually placed mine in my fridge for extra coolness.
