Reformation Sizing Review

Reformation was always one of those brands that I loved from afar. Each and every one of their pieces, from dresses to blouses and bottoms, are swoon-worthy but their pricing always stopped me from seriously considering a purchase. I finally gave their dresses a try a few years ago and almost left the dressing room crying. Nothing fit right and the ones that fit okay were not flattering at all. I wrote off the brand (still swooning from afar) and figured it was just one of those brands that would never work for me. But last year, I was looking for a wedding guest dress and saw this beauty and just HAD to try it.

Since then, I’ve purchased two more dresses and three tops and they are in constant rotation in my wardrobe. It took a little time, but I have finally found what styles and sizing work for me and I couldn’t be happier.

If you’re in the same boat as I was and you have a Reformation location near you (or will be near one traveling), I highly recommend going in-store and trying on a bunch of styles and sizes to find what works for you!

Reformation Sizing Review

Before diving into Reformation’s sizing, I thought it would be helpful to share my own sizing and measurements! I am 5′ 2″ and weigh 150 pounds, wear a size 34 DD bra, and typically wear a size 6/M. When it comes to clothing, my biggest pain point is my chest, which is typically the reason why I size up. My bust measurement is 38 inches and knowing this has been game-changing when online shopping and referencing size charts.

For bottoms, I’m usually a 28P (my perfect length jean has a 25.5″ inseam – hello short legs!) so with a lot of dresses that are supposed to be midi length, I either need to get them hemmed or I’ll wear them as a maxi/ankle-length dress.

Clothing sizes are all relative; a brand that runs small for you might run large for someone else but overall, I find that Reformation runs small, especially in the bust/chest. For this reason, I always size up in both their dresses and tops. If the piece I’m shopping has a looser fit, I’ll typically stick with my regular size (8/M) unless I want the piece to fit oversized.

I haven’t tried any of their skirts, pants, or denim yet but it’s next on my list! In addition to straight sizes, Reformation also offers petite and extended sizing.

My Usual Size

I usually wear a size 6/8/M in clothing but in Reformation, I’m typically a 10 or a large. The only exception (so far!) has been with the Rachelle Dress, which I wear an 8 in (it has a stretchy back!).

I cannot recommend purchasing a soft tape measure enough! Ever since I got one and learned what my measurements are, it makes ordering clothing online so much easier. I now only return clothing because I don’t like the style versus wrong sizing!

What to Wear Under Reformation Dresses

While I’m a huge fan of Reformation’s dresses, my biggest complaint is how un-forgiving a lot of the fabrics are. When wearing this dress, I definitely feel my most confident by wearing shapewear!

If shapewear isn’t your thing or you don’t love anything form-fitting, I recommend opting for a loser-style dress, like this one! This is a personal favorite of mine because I don’t have to wear a bra or shapewear, making it a great option during the warmer months and is so pretty to wear to weddings.

The Best Pieces from Reformation

For a long time, I thought the only thing Reformation sold was dresses. I know, I know. And while they do have some great dresses, they also have some great tops! Whether you’re looking for a few great tops to wear every day or want something special for a first date or work event, Reformation has so many pretty tops that fit any budget.

Hi! I was just wondering if you have any experience ordering their petite sizes and if you would recommend ordering up an additional size in petites. Thank you!

Love the green dress you’re wearing here! So pretty! Thanks for the sizing notes — I have my eye on a couple pieces of theirs but was unsure of the fit!

What shoes do you recommend pairing with the blue ‘Rachelle Reformation dress? I am wearing it for an engagement shoot.
