Pretty Lipsticks to Wear This Winter

Ahhh – lipstick. I must admit, I used to be an avid lipstick wearer and for whatever reason, I randomly stopped wearing it. But good news! I’ve finally hopped back on the lipstick train and I can’t seem to get off.

Now that I’m back on the lipstick train, I’ve been working on updating my collection and trying new shades and brands. There are a still a few I want to pick up (I am loving this red, this nude beauty, and I’m of course dying to try this one!) but I have finally settled on my go-to lipsticks for the winter months.

*cheering*

If you’re in the market a few new lipsticks or are ready to dip your toes into the lipstick pool for the first time, you’ll want to try these shades!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick ($34)

After hearing countless bloggers rave about both the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick, I decided it was finally time to try it for myself. I tend to gravitate more towards matte lipsticks but sometimes they’re incredibly dry and hard to apply, so I’ll opt for the creamy version (not a makeup wizard so I’m not sure if these characteristics are properly describing lipsticks haha). Coming in twelve different shades, the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick keeps your lips moisturized while still bolstering the characteristics of a traditional matte lipstick (bold, long lasting color). The price might be a little high, but I promise you it’s well worth it!

My go-to shade: Love Liberty (a deep berry pink)

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($27)

Dear Sephora, thank you for giving out so many free samples – without you, I might have never tried the NARS lip pencils.

Seriously though, you guys. These lip pencils are the bomb. My one (and only complaint!) about these lip pencils is that they are not very moisturizing and if you’re someone that likes to rub their lips together throughout the day, you’ll hate these lippies. BUT I promise the pros outweigh the cons – With 20+ shades to pick from (yes, even blue!), I promise you will find at least one shade that works for you and once you put it on, they do not budge. Does your S.O. hate when you wear lipstick because it gets all over them? That a thing of the past thanks to the NARS velvet matte lip pencil.

My go-to shade: Damned (a deep magenta)

Yves Saint Laurent Pur Couture Matte Lipstick ($39)

I am almost positive that the YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks were the first real lipstick I ever wore. And by real, I mean not the Revlon lip crayons (totally still obsessed with those though!). I now have three different go-to shades but I have my eye on basically all of them at this point. They’re creamy. They make your lips look fabulous. They’re moisturizing. The color is amazing. Shall I go on?

YSL also just came out with the Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks in a slim version, which I’m totally obsessing over. They’re perfect for throwing in a clutch or traveling with! I always keep #16 in my handbag in case I need to put on some color!

My go-to shades: Rosewood Oddity, #16 (a dusty mauve), Fuschia, #19 (a bright fuscia), and Rose Stiletto, #9 (a rich berry rose)

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($18)

Not only is the price tag on the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks amazing, but so isn’t the variety of finishes and shades it comes in. I’m not kidding when I say they come in over 90 shades. NINETY FREAKIN’ SHADES. From metallic and satin finishes to matte, shimmer, and high shine, Urban Decay is covering all of your lipstick needs. I currently own Alpha and Psycho (which is extremely glittery and I didn’t notice til I put it on…. OOPS) but am almost always reaching for Alpha!

My go-to shade: Alpha (a bright rose)

Beauty Counter Color Intense Lipstick ($34)

Have you drank the Beauty Counter kool-aid yet? I’ve tried a (small) handful of their products but just recently tried their lipstick for the first time!

Before we talk about this lipstick though, can we chat real quick about Beauty Counter? I have never really paid attention to the ingredients in products – if I liked them and they worked for me, I was going to use them. Over the last year or so, I’ve been making a conscious effort to care more about the products I’m using and the ingredients in them. The Think Dirty app has become my BFF and I’ve been trying to switch out my most used products (slowly, but surely!) for cleaner options. I do have to be truthful though, I’m not sure if I’ll ever completely switch ALL of my products over to clean, organic options but I’m going to make every effort I can to be more mindful. ANYWAS – I love the Beauty Counter not only uses clean ingredients but also has awesome products and makes a point to educate their customers.

So now, let’s get to the lipstick. I was hesitant about ordering a lipstick online without trying it out first, but I was pleasently surprised when I did get it in the mail! I put it on immediately and LOVED it. The color is rich and it applies SO well. Not into a heavy lipstick? Beauty Counter also has a sheer lipstick that comes in 13 different shades and is perfect for everyday wear.

My go-to shade: Little Black Dress (a neutral berry)

Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet ($34)

An oldie, but a goodie. I feel like the Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets took social media by storm when they first came out, but I honestly haven’t seen much about them lately. It’s okay though – I still love them! I would actually consider these a lipstick/lipgloss hybrid, when applied, they actually make your lips feel velvety. If you’re to buy only one shade of this lippie, make it the Bright Plum – you won’t be disappointed.

My go-to shades: Bright plum (a deep, intense plum) and Primrose (a neutral pink)

What are your favorite lipsticks for the winter months?

Loved this post!! I am obsessed with lipsticks so this was right up my alley. The Charlotte Tilburry one I am dying to try. And I agree with the YSL lipstick. It was my first high end lipstick, they are so great. You should definitely try liquid lipsticks, I haven’t looked back! Jeffree Star Cosmetics & Smashbox are great. I also love Bite Beauty as an overall brand.

    Happy Wednesday!
