My Favorite Home Purchases

living room

I cannot believe we’ve been in our apartment for almost a full year!! Gosh, the time has gone by so slow and so fast at the same time. While we still have a bunch of things we want to do and add to our space, it definitely feels like home and I’m so happy we resigned our lease for another year.

Getting situated in a new space can be so overwhelming — there’s so many things to purchase, memories to make, and adjusting to make it feel like home. So I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite home purchases (both big and small!) from the last year!

West Elm Harmony Sofa

I have been obsessed with our couch since before we even bought it. I actually first fell in love with it when Chris and I popped into West Elm one day before we even discussed moving in together. While I did want the sectional version, it would have been a struggle to get into our unit and it definitely would have taken over the space.

We ended up getting the 76-inch Harmony sofa in the dove grey performance velvet and I love how clean the lines are but how cozy it makes our space feel. I know there’s a lot of mixed reviews on West Elm’s couches in general, but we love ours and it’s held up so well over the last year (especially with the dog) and I would definitely get the sectional version if we ever have a space it would fit in.

Storage Baskets

Storage space when you live in the city is precious and thankfully, considering the size of our unit, we have a good amount of storage space. That being said, since we don’t have space for our dressers in our bedroom, they’re pushed into our closet (which I surprisingly don’t kind at all) and we have a single shelf that rubs along the top with a clothing rod. The space is great but we needed something to organize our things on that shelf so we got a few of these storage baskets and I love them! We currently use them for our activewear (workout bottoms, tops, and sweatshirts) but I’m planning on getting a few more to organize our pantry and to put on the shelving of a desk I ordered for our bedroom!

Dyson V7 Vacuum

Where do I even start with our vacuum!? After getting the Dyson Ball Multifloor 2 for my mum for Mother’s Day a few years back, I knew I wanted to get one once I no longer had roommates. So what did I do after we signed our lease? Bought myself a Dyson! Since we have limited storage space and with our unit being small, I opted for a cordless model, and Chris and I still argue over who gets the vacuum to this day.

Casaluna Linen Blend Quilt

Once it started getting hot, we realized very quickly we needed to switch out our beloved duvet with a down insert for something lighter for the summer months. And while I *need* to have some sort of blanket on me while I sleep, Chris is more than happy to sleep with just a sheet or without any covers AT. ALL. (Psycho)

We both knew our only real option was a quilt (much to my displeasure) and after searching for what felt like an eternity and not agreeing on anything, Casaluna launched their line at Target. I’m so, so happy I stumbled upon it during one of my mid-quarantine errand runs. We’ve only had it for a few months, but we both love it! I opted for the natural color.

West Elm Floor Mirror

Helllloooo my love! Since my old space was too small for a floor mirror, I knew we had to get one for our new apartment and the area between our heater and bedroom door was the perfect space.

We were looking for a mirror that was simple, fit into this designated space (around 30-32 inches wide) so we didn’t have to worry as much about wall decor, and that we could have for a while. And since we had some rewards dollars from purchasing our couch, I figured the first place to look was West Elm and instantly fell in love with this one!

Hurricane Glass Pillar Candle Holders

Love having 29729057209754 candles on at once, but don’t always want them to have a scent? I’m with ya! I love these hurricane glass candle holders from Target – they’re affordable, they’re very simple, and I can pop an unscented pillar candle in them. In the fall/winter seasons, we pretty much have the candles in ours lit from the time we get home from work until we go to bed.

P.S. These are the pillar candles we put in them!

Nattie Red Wine Glass

If you’ve been around these parts for a while, you know a love a good glass of wine and I love a good wine glass. While I’d love to have beautiful glasses that cost more than $5 per glass (like these ones and these ones), I am far too clumsy and would break them in a millisecond and be very upset about it. So, until I get my shit together, these glasses are my BFF (We moved in with 8, I’m down to 4). They’re just under $4 per glass and when you purchase a set of eight, you get a set discount so the total cost is $28, so when I do break them, I don’t feel as guilty.

With the limited storage in our apartment, we opted to buy a full set of the red wine glasses instead of having to store both white and red glasses (I drink white!). Bigger glass, more wine.

There’s something about seeing wooden pieces in homes that make my stomach so fuzzy lol I don’t know why. I love your mirror so much! I’m thinking about buying a mirror with a wooden frame as well. And yes, storage baskets for the win! Haha. I’m so intro organizing the past few days, maybe because it’s Virgo season? Lol. Thanks so much for sharing!
