My 2019 Travel Goals

With a long list of places I want to travel to, I’m starting somewhere and setting yearly travel goals for myself.

After I graduated college a few years ago, I promised myself I’d make the effort to travel whenever possible. Whether by train, car, or plane, it’s important to experience new places and new people. It’s how you learn about yourself, different cultures and lifestyles, and taking time off to relax and live will do wonders for your mental health. Each year since I’ve graduated college, I’ve made it a point to take a plane somewhere at least twice (so far we have Houston, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Atlanta on the list!) without countless day/weekend trips in between. Pretty good if I do say so myself

As I finish planning trips for the end of 2018, I realize how important it is to set not only regular goals, but travel goals as well. Even if it’s a quick weekend away by car, yearly travel goals will help you prioritize the trips that are important to you. I don’t know about you, but sometimes life gets hectic and you forget to plan or forget to take those trips that are important to you. And you know what? That’s not acceptable. TREAT YO SELF.

Now that I’ve blabbed I’m about traveling (and before I get to my 2019 travel goals) – let’s talk about this beauty of a dress. I originally ordered it (along with three other options) for a wedding back I went to back in June and even though I am pretty busty for my petite frame, I had my fingers crossed that it would work.

The good news: The dress is gorgeous, I’m smitten with the wrap detailing and feminine ruffles, and it’s totally out of my comfort zone (in a good way!).

The bad news: It is very revealing to be wearing to a wedding. Who knows what would have popped out after a few drinks!

Although it killed me to keep the dress with no where to wear, I did opt to keep it because COME ON! This dress is giving me major tropical island vibes aka an excuse to take a trip.

I did size up (typically a small, ordered a medium) because I was worried the small would be too small with the wrap style, but I definitely could have gotten away with it. I also had to have the sleeves hemmed up because the shoulders were too high, making it fit weird at first ($12 alterations on a $200 dress? Totes worth it!) but it fits perfectly now.

Okay, now for my 2019 travel goals…

  • Kennebunkport, ME – Since I do work a 9-5, I need to start stepping up my weekend trip game. I’ve heard so many amazing things about Kennebunkport from friends, my parents, and basically, everyone that has ever been is always singing their praises to the coastal town. I’m hoping to go at the very beginning of summer so I can still enjoy those cool spring mornings!
  • London – I was originally planning on doing London, Amsterdam, and Portugal this fall but that’s *clearly* not happening. So Instead, I’m pushing it to 2019 and making sure it happens.
  • Washington, D.C. – My school took a week-long trip to D.C. when I was in the seventh grade – we did all the museums, all the outdoor activities, etc. but let’s face it: it’s been a long ass time since I was in the seventh grade. It’s a quick trip and flights are inexpensive out of Boston, so it’s going on the list.
  • New York City, NY – Would you believe me if I told you I’ve never been to NYC? Well, it’s true and it’s almost embarrassing to admit. This trip should probably be at the top of my list, since it’s not too troublesome to get to from Boston.
  • Salt Lake City, UT – Chris’ friends are moving to SLC this week and I’m itching to go this winter to ski! How SICK would that be!?

What are your travel goals for 2019?

OMG. I was with a very busty friend at a wedding recently and she had on a plunging neckline that looked fabulous but she did have a little boob pop out mishap. Glad to hear that didn’t happen to you! Super colorful for wedding season!
