A white button-down is just one of those clothing items that everyone needs to have in their closet. They are so versatile and you never know when you’re going to need one, so in my mind, it’s better to be safe and just have one in your closet just in case. Over the years, I’ve tried my fair share of button-downs but as of late have really gravitated towards oversized button-downs. They’re chic, they look more lived-in, they’re comfy, and they don’t look so…. stuffy.
And let me tell you: once you find the perfect oversized button-down, your life will change forever.
After what felt like years of searching for the perfect oversized button-down, I finally found the one at Reformation. This button-down is not only super comfy but it also has the ideal amount of fabric.
How to Style an Oversized Button-Down Shirt
This is by far my favorite way to style an oversized button-down shirt. It’s easy, it’s classic, and no matter where you’re headed, you always look put together. Typically, when I wear tops with more volume, I opt for a slimmer bottom, but I can’t say no to these high-waisted vintage-style jeans. Paired with a simple flat and you’re ready to go!
The key to tucking in an oversized button-down is to tuck it in as tight as you possibly can and then raise your hands above your head. By doing this, you get the perfect amount of fluff to your shirt. Plus, it looks so chic. The other great thing about tucking in an oversized button-down is that you can tuck it into any type of bottom. Shorts, jeans, skirts, trousers.
As a Cover-Up
Once it gets too hot to be wearing a button-down shirt as part of your everyday outfit, wear it as a swimsuit cover-up! I’m a big fan of styling an oversized button-down over a one-piece – it’s so chic and looks put together.
Oversized Button-Down Shirts I’m Loving
Oversized button-down shirts are so in right now and even if a crisp white button-down isn’t your thing, there are a ton of cute options out there that are more colorful! I obviously love this one from Reformation, but AYR, Mango, and Topshop have some great options!
