How to Style A Bodysuit

go-to date night outfit

I firmly believe that a great bodysuit is a “basic” that should be in everyone’s closet. They’re such a fun, versatile piece that can truly be worn for anything. But with that being said, they’re also one of the pieces I had avoided for the longest time. So many of the bodysuits you find are form-fitting and to be honest, I always struggled to find a style that flattered my size 6/8 body and that I felt confident in. That all went out the door when I found this bodysuit. Not only did it check off all the boxes (flattering fit, can be styled multiple ways, good price) but it also looks like a blouse, not a bodysuit!

How to Style A Bodysuit

When I first ordered this bodysuit and received it in the mail, I was a little nervous it wasn’t going to work out. The front has a faux(ish) wrap style to it and it doesn’t have any sort of snap or button to keep it closed. To my delight, it stays closed very well (I think it’s the fabric!) and you can adjust it by pulling the fabric closer together so you can really tailor it based on the vibe you’re going for. It’s also super stretchy!

How to Style A Bodysuit

While most bodysuits can be styled with pretty much anything – there are three ways I’d style this one

With Jeans

If I’m leaving my house, nine times out of 10 I reach for jeans (unless it’s the middle of summer). They’re my go-to base since they go with literally everything so why reinvent the wheel when styling a bodysuit? Whether you’re going out with your girlfriends or grabbing dinner with your partner, pairing your bodysuit with denim and your favorite pumps is as fail-proof as it’s going to get. Extra points if you create a monochromatic look like mine!

With a Skirt

If jeans aren’t your thing (or you just want to switch it up!), pairing your favorite bodysuit with a skirt is a no-brainer. Plus, you avoid the issue of having to readjust like you would if you were tucking in a traditional blouse. Since my bodysuit has more fabric to it, I would pair it with a more fitted skirt to avoid any extra bulk. If your go-to bodysuit is more form-fitting, try it with a denim midi or fuller-bodied skirt!

With Shorts

Pairing a bodysuit with your favorite shorts will give you an easy casual look, perfect for running errands, summer nights, or lunch with friends. Again, I would be mindful of the fabric of your bodysuit and how much fabric there is to it so you can create a balanced look.
