How I’m Having More Productive Weekends

The weekends are for relaxing, but how are you supposed to get anything done when there are more social commitments happening than you can handle?

This entire summer has been extremely busy with weddings, graduation parties, events, and social gatherings with friends that I haven’t had a lot of time to just relax. But alas, my last big family event of the summer (my cousin got married!) is over with so I am officially in “get your shit together and enjoy the rest of the summer” mode over here.

Deal with the Stupid Shit During the Week

One of my biggest issues with running errands over the weekend is that I know I have an unlimited amount of time to poke around in the store (*cough* Target *cough*), which would turn into a 3-hour venture. By doing all of my errands and any other stupid shit I had to get done during the week, I am able to put myself on a time-limit because let’s face it: your time during the week is valuable AF.

Have a Plan

When you have a lot going on over the weekend, the best way to still be productive is to have a plan. Have stuff you have to get done for work? Need to prep for a wedding? Carve out time specifically for those tasks to ensure they get done and to make the rest of the day a little less hectic.

I am an early riser and am more productive in the mornings, so I always try to catch nope blog work, schedule shoots, and get any work done for my 9-5 first thing in the morning. Sometimes I even use this as an excuse to take myself to Tatte for a working breakfast.

Be Present

Once I made a game plan for my weekends, when I was going to be catching up on work and when I would spend time with family and friends, I was able to become more present in the day-to-day because I wasn’t stressing about what I had to get done and when I was going to do it.

Enjoying the time I have to do things I wanted to do versus things that I have to do allows me to be excited about those things I have to do. Are you as confused as I am?? Basically – taking time to do fun and exciting things allows me to be more excited about my blog, about my job, and about the stupid adult shit we *have* to do, instead of being miserable trying to get it done.

Life is all about balance. Being productive is a direct correlation with your happiness, your schedule, and your mindset (duhhh). If you notice that you’re working your ass off every weekend but aren’t getting much done, reevaluate how you’re spending your time. I promise that moving a few things around and coming up with a plan of action is going to pay off

How are you having more productive weekends?

This is so helpful!! Especially running errands during the week. I am definitely guilty of spending HOURS in target on a Saturday when I actually just went there to pick up dog food….

Love this post! I love weekends but hate looking back wondering where the time went when I could have easily allotted just a little time to doing productive work. I always like to have a running to-do list so I can keep up with each little task and not forget anything!

So smart! I’ll sometimes leave editing for the week days as well, it helps make my commutes feel more productive.

Okay actually I LOVE the tip about dealing with stupid shit during the week! I would save so much time if I just stopped by the grocery store on my way home from work. Yeah, I’m usually tired, but I’m already going through Manhattan to get back to Brooklyn and when I go on the weekends, I have to go into Manhattan, shop, bring them all back and then by that time I don’t want to go back to Manhattan to hang in my favorite areas of the city! I need to start doing this more often, especially since a Trader Joe’s just opened up right near my work!

Yes girl, yes! I started grabbing my groceries on my way home from work and it is a game changer! You also avoid the grocery shopping craziness on the weekend. I’ll even run a few errands on my lunch break to avoid doing the little things on the weekends!

I also work on my blog during the weekends– it lessens my load during the week, and also keeps me on top of things, especially with all of the events and meetings that happen during the week.

This outfit is so cute! I definitely agree about having a plan. Whenever I don’t have a plan I end up binge watching Netflix or baking a cake for no reason (sad but true). Lovely post 💕
