Every Book I Read in 2021

Every Book I Read in 2021

I have always been an avid reader but never set reading goals for myself until I signed up for Goodreads about two years ago. In 2020, I set my first ever reading goal. 25 books. I ended up reading 49 (you can read about the ones I read here!) so when I set my goal for 2021, I decided 50 would be a great number. I left my traditional 9-5 at the end of 2020 and was making my own schedule so I figured it would be easy to reach that number.

2021 started off strong but I quickly realized (okay, maybe not so quickly) that I wasn’t going to reach my goal for the year. Nevertheless, I kept up my reading and once October/November rolled around, I reallllly realized I wasn’t going to reach my goal. At this point, I had only read about 35 books and while I tried to reach that goal of 50, it just wasn’t happening.

At first, I was super bummed that I wasn’t going to reach my goal but realized that whether I reached it or not, I still read a lot of books that I enjoyed. And that’s all that matters, right? Over the years (thanks to social media!), reading has become more popular, for lack of better words. People are sharing what they’re currently reading, their goals, and reviews of the books that they’ve read and while I absolutely love it (I do have a bookstagram after all!), I think it puts this pressure on people that they should be reading more. I’ve definitely felt the pressure and it’s something that I need to get over – if I read 2 books in a year, great! If I read 130 books in a year, great! As long as I’m enjoying it.

So my reading goal for 2021 was to read 50 books. I ended up reading 43 and for the most part, they were all really good. Below, I’ve organized every book I read in 2021 by genre and what my rating was. I’ve excluded my full reviews of each book in an effort to keep it short(ish) but if you want to learn more about the books and my reviews, click the links below!
