An Easy Thanksgiving Outfit

slip skirt and chunky sweater

How is Thanksgiving only a few days away!?! If it were any other year, I’d be dreading it (it’s my least favorite of all holidays – judge me) but this year is a little different. So many of us can’t see our families, our friends, and it breaks my heart. Because there are still so many unknowns, it makes it that much more important to celebrate the little things and do the things that make you happy.

If that means dressing up for Thanksgiving just to sit on the couch with your dog, so be it.

This year, we’re staying within our little COVID “pod” and spending Thanksgiving with Chris’ parents and I can’t wait for all the wine and appetizers (Thanksgiving dinner isn’t my thannng).

While our Thanksgiving is going to be casual, I still want to get dressed and look put together, and this leopard slip skirt is the perfect piece for just that!

I picked this one up back in late September/early October and have been obsessed ever since. I had been wanting a slip skirt for awhile but it’s pretty freakin hard to find one that fits properly when you’re curvy. I swear I tried on 473938473 different ones!! And I’m sure you can only imagine my surprise when I found this one at J.Crew and it fits perfectly!

It’s super comfy and easy to dress up or down depending on what your plans are, and the elastic waistband is comfortable to be eating in and laying around in all day long.

Since it’s getting chillier out here in Boston, I’ll definitely be pairing my skirt with this cozy, chunky sweater and I might switch my heels out for loafers (or fuzzy socks if we’re being totally honest).

Since my parents live with my sister’s family, we don’t feel as concerned about visiting (I’ve helped my parents out all through the pandemic anyways, and none of us really go anywhere) so we’re getting together the evening before Thanksgiving for apps and wine and then staying overnight for a Thanksgiving morning brunch with the parade. Sooo I won’t be dressing up – probably just hanging out in pajamas – but I still LOVE this outfit and it’s giving me inspiration for styling some of my own pieces!

So true, finding slip skirt or slip dresses or slip anything is so tricky when you need to find something that fits your waist AND your hips! The struggle. But I’m glad you found this one, it’s gorgeous and so perfect for a comfy Thanksgiving look.
