The rainy, cold weather we’ve been experiencing in Boston for the last few weeks is finally breaking, and the sunshine and warm temperatures are finally HERE. I couldn’t be more excited.

After surviving the long, cold winter months, I try to spend as much time as possible outside come spring. Living in the city makes this so much easier, especially with some of my favorite spots an easy walk or train ride from my apartment! One of the easiest ways to spend time outside? Having a picnic!

The Best Spots in Boston to Have a Picnic

Boston Common – Easily accessible from everywhere in the city, the Boston Common is extremely spacious so even on those gorgeous days, you’ll still be able to find yourself a secluded area to enjoy the company of your significant other or friends!

The Public Gardens – My favorite area of the entire city, the Public Gardens boast gorgeous flowers, beautiful greenery, the iconic swan boats, and lots of squirrels. It always amazes me how comfortable they are coming right up to those passing through!

The Esplanade – Located along the Charles River, the Esplanade is one of the best places to spend your days, especially in the summer!

Christopher Columbus Park – Located in the heart of the North End, having a picnic at Christopher Columbus Park is easy with so many delicious restaurants in the area for you to pick up a sandwich or two!

Post Office Square – The small park in Post Office Square is such a great lunch spot, especially on the weekends! Surrounded by tall buildings, it’s a little oasis in the middle of the city.

The Greenway – The Greenway is one of my new favorite spots in the city and the green space (ha ha!) is gorgeous! The city has done such a great job cleaning up the area and the food trucks make it extremely easy to plan a picnic – all you need is a blanket and beverages!

What to Pack

I am a firm believer that you wine and cheese should always be enjoyed together. Plus, they’re both very easy to transport and enjoy on a warm spring day. All you need to do to create the perfect picnic cheese board is prep, prep, prep – and don’t forget the wine!

I’m typically a white wine kind of gal but once the warm weather rolls around, I am all for a delicious glass of rosé.

Who’s with me?

I am a huge fan of dry wines and I’m currently loving Simple Life Rosé. Not only is their rosé dry, it also has a crisp flavor with strawberry, pear, and jasmine notes, making it the perfect beverage to enjoy during a picnic, on the porch with friends, or while binge-watching your favorite Netflix series!

If rosé isn’t your thing, Simple Life Wines has your back. With a delicious Chardonnay (not too oak-y!), Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s easy to find something for everyone. Not to mention, Bostonians can grab a bottle (or four!) of Simple Life Wines on your next shopping trip to Shaw’s. For a comprehensive list of retailers who carry Simple Life Wines your local area, simply type in your zip code on their Where to Buy page.

That’s what I call a win-win.

What’s your favorite type of wine?
